Campaign Consultation, Inc. was asked to facilitate The Sustainability Institute within the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) annual Mid-Year Training Institute. Designed to help increase awareness, knowledge and skills in the areas of fund raising and communication, this institute focused on the end goal of strengthening the sustainability of community-based coalitions.
This four-day institute featured workshops on topics including writing, revelry, research, resources (web, print, etc), making presentations, and visibility. All organizations are aware that growing and sustaining successful programs requires financial support, but it takes much more than that. In order to help clients explore the challenges and opportunities associated with program sustainability, Campaign Consultation develops and delivers workshops and provides on-going training and guidance on resource development with individual and business donors, marketing and communications, champion and leader development, and partnerships and collaborations. Each of these areas can contribute to the long term sustainability of a program or initiative.
- No organization can operate successfully without resources. While resource development does include raising money from individuals, foundations and corporations, it also involves planning, communication, and relationship development. Writing proposals, executing annual fund and emergency or special fund campaigns, planning for special events, solicitation of in-kind gifts and communicating needs to a variety of prospects are all activities that lead to successful resource development. The objective of the SustainAbility Initiative was to reach project directors of national service initiatives with learning materials and services to assist them with program sustainability and demonstrating the impact of their work. Campaign Consultation developed a series of national training events, recruited event participants (who were not required to attend), and provided both in person and distance technical assistance.
Some highlights include:
Delivered 13 ASK [awareness, skills and knowledge] to Sustain Institutes (two-day, multiple session events) to 904 participants, a 33% increase in attendance over training offered by previous consultants
Delivered 22 workshops to 4,175 participants
Conducted six multi-phase, on-the-ground interventions, providing a series of individualized technical assistance to ACCESS, AFOP, Tanana Chiefs, Connecticut Service Commission, DC National Service Collaborative, and National Council of La Raza
Completed a comprehensive, multi-state report that analyzed state system collaborative accomplishments and challenges
Developed a wide variety of coaching and technical assistance tools
